Where appropriate, the assessment may incorporate information from parents/guardians, the child or youth, and other relevant sources to develop a more complete understanding of the concerns being presented.

Comprehensive Child & Youth Assessment — 75 Minutes

This assessment is ideal when a more comprehensive understanding of the child’s or youth’s current functioning and needs is required.

The assessment may include:

  • Review of the primary concerns bringing the child/youth to therapy
  • Developmental and psychosocial history
  • Emotional and behavioural functioning
  • Family and relationship dynamics
  • School and peer functioning
  • Social and environmental factors
  • Strengths, interests, coping skills, and protective factors
  • Age-appropriate exploration of the child’s/youth’s perspective
  • Parent/guardian input where clinically appropriate
  • Identification of treatment goals and priorities
  • Clinical recommendations and next steps

Focused Child & Youth Assessment — 50 Minutes

A focused assessment designed to explore specific emotional, behavioural, social, or developmental concerns.

The assessment may include:

  • Review of presenting concerns
  • Relevant developmental and mental health history
  • Current emotional and behavioural concerns
  • School, family, and social functioning
  • Parent/guardian perspective where appropriate
  • Age-appropriate discussion with the child/youth
  • Identification of treatment goals
  • Initial clinical impressions
  • Recommendations for ongoing support
Length: 50 minutes
Fee: $200

Assessment format and content may vary based on age, developmental stage, presenting concerns, and clinical needs. Parent/guardian participation will be determined by the clinician based on the child’s age, consent requirements, and clinical circumstances.
